# Adding assets by IP address

> Add an internet-facing IPv4 address straight to your monitored inventory, bypassing domain candidate discovery, and understand the validation rules.

You can add an internet-facing IPv4 address directly to the asset inventory without running a domain DNS or SSL candidate lookup.

## How it behaves

* **Direct addition** — unlike a domain, a valid IPv4 address skips candidate discovery and goes straight into the monitored inventory.
* **IPv4 validation** — the field validates IPv4 syntax. An address it rejects shows the message `Invalid IPv4 address` beneath the input.
* **Tenant and risk owner** — tenant administrators must set **Tenant** and **Risk Owner** in the dialog. For non-admin accounts these are assigned automatically.

## Add an IP address

1. Click **Add New** in the top right of the Exposure page to open the **Add Asset** dialog.
2. Enter the IPv4 address in the **Domain / IP** field.
3. Click **Add**. If the value fails validation, `Invalid IPv4 address` appears beneath the field — correct the address and try again.
4. Click **Save** to add the address to the monitored exposure table.
